Destin is Hot but not too Hot
The weather in Destin, Florida is always pleasant, but the increase in warmth in June means you can go in the water without recoiling in pain from the cold water. The heat is not overwhelming mind you, but it is definitely warmer than the spring season. The summer season lasts until mid-August when the heat starts to die down and the milder tones of fall take over sometime in September.
Enjoy the heat by visiting a beach on the Emerald Coast, escape it on a boat tour, or hike in a nearby state park.
The Concerts in the Village are a lot of Fun
Visit the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin if you want to have a fun Thursday evening. Bringing together people of all cultures together to appreciate good music, the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation put on a fantastic show for all ages. Admission is $12 for all ages, and be sure to check the MKAF website for any COVID precautions you may need to take before catching a show!
We Love the Fireworks on the Harbor
To honor America, the city shoots fireworks every Thursday in the Destin harbor. You will be treated to a fiery display unlike most others in the area, and all for free! Shows start the first Thursday in June and run through mid-August. The best place to view the fireworks are at the Harborwalk Village, but you can also see them from the deck of a charter or party boat.
There are Free Concerts too!
At HarborWalk Village you can attend free Rock the Docks concerts on Saturday evenings throughout the summer starting in June. There is a $10 on-site parking fee but otherwise enjoy the free tunes under the stars on the Destin Harbor Boardwalk.
After the concert, take in the downtown Destin, Florida nightlife and enjoy a big meal at AJ’s Seafood & Oyster Bar or take a walking tour around the beautiful Destin boardwalk.
