The Best Route From Houston, TX, to 30A, FL

The trip from Houston, TX, to 30A, FL, by car is about 10 hours. Get ready to traverse the great states of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama before you get to Florida. Thankfully, it’s a simple trip.

Just get on I-10E in Houston and follow the road as it turns into I-12 E (and then back into I-10 E) until you reach Defuniak Springs, Florida. Here you make a right onto US-331 S and then make a left onto US-98E. At this point, you will have made it to Point Washington State Forest and are a stone’s throw from “Florida 30A.” Follow US-98 E until you see signs for US-30 as you reach Rosemary Beach.

If you’ve never heard of the 30A, it is a stretch of the Florida Gulf coastline connected by the scenic 30A highway. The string of coastal towns has plenty of small gems waiting to be encountered, including communities such as Rosemary Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, and Sandestin. Of course, you will want to relax on the beach and splash around in the clear waters of the Gulf, but there are so many restaurants to find, stories to hear, and memories to make along our favorite stretch of asphalt.

Diving into our area’s lively entertainment scene is one of the best ways to make the most of your trip from Houston to 30A. Hotspots like the 30A Harbor BoardwalkBig Kahuna’s Water & Adventure Park, and 30A Commons are popular for their shopping, dining, and family-friendly activities. The 30A has so much to explore that everyone will find something they like.

Biking, kayaking, and boating are all popular things to do along the coast, especially at one of the local parks like Point Washington State Forest or Topsail Hill Preserve. You can also rent a boat and explore Choctawhatchee Bay, where you’ll find wildlife and beautiful views.
