Any time of year is the best time to come and enjoy the natural beauty of the sugar-white sands and emerald green waters of the Florida panhandle, but Summer seems to be the #1 choice for visitors to come to the area, and we completely understand the popularity of this choice. Kids are out of school, parents are enjoying vacation time off work, the weather is warm, and the cool refreshing, crystal clear water is calling everyone to come and relax. This alone is a good enough reason, but there is so much more that makes a Summer beach vacation to the Emerald Coast an excellent idea!
Find your new song for Summer with outdoor concerts and other great outdoor activities at many fun area locations.

Big Kahuna’s Waterpark in Destin is an exciting place for family fun. The park offers over 40 different rides, water slides, play areas, or pools. Relaxing lazy river and thrilling slides. This park has something for everyone. Even a miniature golf course.
Jetski dolphin tours, snorkeling tours, dolphin and sunset cruises, paddleboarding, kayaking, surfing, bodyboarding, and scuba diving are some of the many water activities that can be enjoyed all year long, but some may find these most enjoyable during Summer months. Many watersport rentals can be found at the Harborwalk Village, but there are many other great locations in the area where you can obtain a day of water fun. Beach Service attendants at many beaches offer jet ski rentals, kayak and paddleboard rentals, and surfboard rentals.
Farmer’s markets are another activity to be enjoyed in the Summertime. All the areas of the Emerald Coast offer these. On 30A there are a variety of locations including the town of Seaside on Tuesdays and Saturdays Rosemary Beach on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Both are just off 30A. Miramar Beach has a Farmer’s market at 90 Seascape Dr. on Wednesdays in peak Summer months. Grand Boulevard at Sandestin offers a Farmer’s market on Saturdays. Ft Walton Beach has a Farmer’s market on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month at the Ft. Walton Beach Landing at 139 Brooks St. Some folks suggest getting there early in the day for the best Farmer’s market experience.
Festivals are another fun Summer activity. The Emerald Coast has quite a selection of them during the warmer months. Arts, fireworks, BBQ, wine, music, Greek festival, are some of the great variety of fun festivals you can enjoy. Ask our front desk team when you’re in town what festivals may be going on. We enjoy sharing with our guests.
Another great activity for some cool Summer fun is going to the beach in the evenings and looking up at the stars. The beach at night is gorgeous and it’s a whole new way to appreciate the Gulf of Mexico with the moon reflecting on the waves. Likely if it’s a full moon, you won’t need a flashlight, but if you, please use turtle-friendly lights. Sea turtles can get confused by artificial lighting, and it can completely ruin a nest full of baby sea turtle eggs. No one wants that because we all love these beautiful animals! Please inquire at the sporting goods store for a turtle-friendly flashlight for using night lighting at the beach.
You may want to check-out one of the beautiful area city parks while you’re here. These hidden treasures are often on or near the water, and many of them offer great activities like volleyball, basketball, playgrounds, grills, picnic tables for a nice lunch under the shade of a beautiful live oak tree, and public restrooms. Clement Taylor Park at 131 Calhoun Drive in Destin is located directly on the Choctawhatchee Bay, and it’s a beautiful place to take the kids and enjoy the afternoon.
